Beyond policies and procedures, QAPCO actively promotes safety awareness through a series of engagement events and campaigns held throughout the year. These include our flagship World Safety Day celebrations, company-wide “One Team for Safety” events, and seasonal initiatives such as the “Beat the Heat” summer campaign and the Winter Safety Campaign, all aimed at reinforcing preventive practices and encouraging a shared sense of responsibility across the organization.

Safety Management and Performance Excellence
QAPCO operates under a robust and certified Safety Management System aligned with international standards, providing a solid foundation for consistent risk management and continuous improvement. The company is proudly certified to ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) and undergoes regular independent audits to verify compliance and performance across all operations. The health and personal safety of employees and contractors remain a top priority; QAPCO promotes safe and healthy workplaces through rigorous training, awareness programmes, and preventive health initiatives. Safety performance is continuously monitored through key indicators such as recordable injury frequency and days away from work, ensuring transparency and accountability. Process safety is central to QAPCO’s operational integrity and reliability. It focuses on preventing and controlling incidents involving hazardous materials and energy through world-class engineering, design, and maintenance practices. Demonstrating its safety excellence, QAPCO achieved a milestone of 20 million man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) in June 2016.
The company has also invested significantly in advancing process and occupational safety through the SPEAR (Safe Place to Engage and Achieve Results) Program, designed to elevate processes and practices to best-industry standards; this initiative has led to awards and sharing of experiences at conferences and universities. In September 2023, QAPCO was recognized by TotalEnergies with its Safety Excellence Award for outstanding performance in process and occupational safety

Supporting Education and STEM Development
At QAPCO, we believe that investing in people and ideas is the most powerful form of social responsibility. Highly skilled graduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are essential to Qatar’s future and to the success of the petrochemical and energy sectors.
STEM education is therefore a core pillar of our sustainability and social engagement strategy. We actively support initiatives that inspire young learners, nurture technical talent, and connect education with real-world impact.
Through our partnerships with Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), UNESCO, and the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), we help advance learning, research, and innovation across Qatar.
QAPCO also sponsors and supports numerous educational programs led by Qatar University’s College of Engineering, including Life is Engineering, Engineering Week, CENG Computing Contest, Senior Design Contest, Wooden Bridge Competition, Gasna, Digital Cube, Mechanical Design Day, and the annual Gas Processing Center Training Courses.
Through these efforts, QAPCO aims to:

Our Environmental Footprint
QAPCO is committed to minimizing its environmental impact across all areas of its operations. Environmental stewardship is a key component of our sustainability strategy and one of the main reasons we actively engage in community initiatives focused on waste management, recycling, and environmental awareness.
We believe that building a conscious and responsible community that values recycling not only benefits the environment but also creates added value for downstream industries and supports Qatar’s broader sustainability goals.

QAPCO Being Part of the Change
QAPCO has been a proud and active participant in the “Be The Change” campaign—an evolution of the GPCA’s award-winning Waste Free Environment initiative and the Clean4Change program by the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. The campaign promotes recycling, waste literacy, and the circular economy by combining education with entertainment, engaging communities, and empowering schools to teach responsible environmental practices.
Recognizing that waste management is largely behavior-driven, QAPCO focuses on early education to instill sustainable habits among youth—ensuring long-term positive change.
Over the past 13 years, QAPCO’s contribution to this initiative has made a measurable impact:
- Investment: over QAR 1.95 million
- Supporting entities: more than 100 government and private organizations
- Volunteers: over 19,500 participants
Each campaign edition in Qatar—particularly the cleanup drives at Wakra Beach—has seen enthusiastic community participation from schools, universities, and public institutions, all united under one goal: shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for our planet.
Proactive on the Social Front
QAPCO has long been committed to making a meaningful difference in society through impactful social initiatives that promote inclusion, well-being, and community development. As a responsible corporate citizen, QAPCO supports programs that empower individuals, elevate quality of life, and strengthen social cohesion — both within the company and across the community.
Our contributions extend to charitable and humanitarian causes, including partnerships with Dreama Orphan Care Center, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Charity, and the Qatar Cancer Society. We also support people with special needs and learning disabilities through inclusive activities that encourage understanding and social integration.
Promoting sports and healthy lifestyles is a key pillar of our social engagement. QAPCO sponsored major events such as the World Handball Championship alongside Industries Qatar and established one of Qatar’s largest corporate sports and recreational clubs, featuring world-class facilities that encourage employees and their families to lead active, healthy lives.
Our passion for sports even reached a global stage, with QAPCO setting a Guinness World Record for the largest T-shirt ever made, created in support of Qatar’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022.
